Cool, a comm!
*pokes community*

I keep blathering about People's Court to a friend of mine who lives in Australia, but she can't really share in the fun. So, hi.

So what's everybody's favorite cases? For the current incarnation, I never watched the others.

They keep rerunning the same fifteen eps right now (twice a day), but most of them are classics, so that's okay.

My absolute favorite is the woman (the defendant) who gave a dog to a friend-of-a-friend and then stole the dog back a couple months later. The plantiff is suing for room and board for the dog.

She brought her hubby and kids, and they're all talking about how they were crying when they found out Peanut wasn't coming home.

The defendant is all "He was my dog, too, and I missed him!" and the Judge is like, "...are you five?" and hit her with two thousand for the claim and a grand for punitive. In the hall, she said that the dog had been starved so she'd just been rescuing it and obviously the plantiff had been eating the dog's food, since she happened to be overweight.

I also like the one about the fur coat that fell apart, where the defendant brought in a court document that said a prior case that the plantiff had filed against him had been dismissed and someone had scribbled in "with prejudice". In different handwriting. And different colored ink. Judge Milian, of course, called the courthouse and found the "with prejudice" was not official. After he lost the countersuit, he's out in the hallway and he's like, "I don't know how that got there! Maybe my lawyer wrote it."

When she catches a witness in a lie, man that's sweet. Especially through a tape recording. And you always know a suit with a counterclaim is going to be fuuuuun.

I've been lurking around for a while waiting for someone to make the first real post and now that it's done....here I am!

I too love The People's Court. I watched it as a kid with Wapner and always caught the re-runs when I had the time but with Hon. Marilyn Milian I'm HOOKED! Sadly, it's referred to as 'my stories' by my girlfriend who puts up with it for an hour a day without speaking a word every time Hon. Milian says "Is my English not as good as I think it is?" or "In Spanish we have a saying...."

I'm not sure if we all watch the same episodes in different areas but, my word, did anyone see her yesterday? I think her make-up person was trying out some new colors because she looked a bit too bright. And her hair looked like it was pulled off to one side. Ikes. I didn't like the look but.....even at that she always looks great.

Well, that's all for now!

Ahhh, The Peoples Court.. what a great show. I recall watching it in my youth, and one of my fondest memories was the case where that little kid jumped off the neighbor's garage roof. it scared the daylights out of me.. but the show under the ruling of Judge Wapner (sp??) was definitely a staple of my elementary school pre-disney afternoon schedule.

I recently started watching it again as part of my lazy-ass unemployed and unschooled daytime television routine. My mom told me about the new Judge of The Peoples Court and referred to her as a really tough and aggressive man-hater. Immediately I ran in and watched it, because there's truly nothing more entertaining than an angry judge. But to my surprise, I didn't find Judge Milian to be a man-hater at all, and I soon found myself beginning to really like her. I found her to be insightful, a good listener, completely fair, and many of her opinions coincide with mine. She's a tough cookie, of course, and isn't afraid to tell someone when they're being a total jerk, but she's a lot fresher and more fun than Judge Judy. She doesn't go around insulting people just for ratings. The last few episodes, she's totally cracked up at what people say. (The girl running away from a hotel room with a guy's pants had me in stitches, and she was so sweet about awarding him a great deal more than he asked for in terms of compensation for his embarrassment.)

And let me tell you, there is something to be said for a judge who comes down from behind her.. um.. seat-thingy (yes, marvel at my impressive knowledge of court jargon), lies down on the floor to look at all the cracks in a fireplace screen, and looks really really cute doing it. She's the best judge on daytime TV, by far!!

I notice this is one of the first entries in this community... well, I'm a definite People's Court lover, so I hope you won't mind more entries from me. Adieu!!
